Video: UBIQ x PUMA - The 700 Level

Sneaker lovers and sport enthusiasts have so much in common. Both have an innate streak of
crazy. Both know that sometimes they have to patiently wait for the things they want most – limited
editions, championship titles, etc. But most importantly, both understand that the colors they paint
on their faces and the kicks they put on their feet define who they are.

For these reasons, PUMA teamed up with Philadelphia sneaker collector boutique UBIQ. Located
in center city, UBIQ sits at the heart of a sport-crazed culture – where brotherly love is more like
sibling rivalry and fans have souls made of steel.

This Sunday, when America’s Team visits the Philadephia Eagles, Philly’s UBIQ and Puma will officially drop their “700 Level” Pack. This pack was, as the name designates, designed to pay tribute to old Veterans Stadium’s 700 Level–the nastiest fan section in sports history.

For the big day, the boutique has lined up the official shoe sale starting at 11AM, while an all-day event and watching party will go down as well. Nicknamed the “Fly UBIQ Fly” event, it will feature Madden 2010 challenges, cheerleaders, DJ Green Lantern and of course, the game. Mitchell & Ness is also lined up to give away some memorabilia. The party plans to go all night, from doors opening, through the game and into the evening. UBIQ also accepts phone orders so displaced Philly fans can stil get their hands on a pair from the pack.

Puma Basket II “Soda Pack”

Puma Basket II "Soda Pack"

Pop. Soda. Coke. No matter what you call them, the sugary carbonated beverages so many of us are addicted to have inspired all four pairs of Basket IIs in this pack from Puma. Coke Classic, Diet Coke, Fanta and Root Beer have all been given their own sneaker design.

The Coke Classics and Diet Coke use alternating colorways, mixing red, white and silver leather over one another. The silver is used as a base for the Diets, while red is used for the arch. The Cokes get the opposite treatment, donning red with white. The Fanta pair is done up with orange leather while white and navy blue are used for accent. Finally, brown is used with hints of orange for the root beer pair, bringing the pack home. We’re still holding out for a Crystal Pepsi-inspired Puma.

Puma Clyde PF

Puma Clyde PF

For this Holiday season, Puma’s dropped their classic Clyde sneaker in two new patent leather colorways, differentiating from the last pack we saw in the suede “Bring Backs.”

Both pairs utilize a full-length gradient design, fading from color to color. One uses black and white, with white dominating the upper for the most part. The Puma logo arch uses the same gradient. The other mixes in black and gold, while its arch logo is the same as the other pair’s. Both utilize a white midsole completing their look. Fat laces are used here too, which is a look we don’t see often these days.

Only one sports venue ever contained fans that cheered for the injuries of opposing player, thought “sportsmanship” was a four-letter word and pelted Santa Claus with snowballs. Santa Claus! The 700 Level of Philadelphia’s Veterans Field, where the Eagles played from 1971-2002 is paid tribute for its legacy as the “Nest of Death” with this pack from Puma and Philly retailer UBIQ.

Consisting of four sneakers, this pack dons green, white, silver and black to pay tribute to the city’s favorite team. Two Clydes and Two Mids are included, with a mixture of jersey mesh and leather used for their uppers. The heels all display the stadium’s years, 1971-2003 (The Eagles moved to Lincoln Field in ‘02 and the Phillies stayed through ‘03). Puma Halloween Pack

Puma Halloween Pack

Nike isn’t the only company bringing out kicks for Halloween, as seen in this two-sneaker pack from Puma. One mid is included, which goes by Mr. Bones, as well as a low top named the Basket Boo.

The Mr. Bones uses an white leather upper, accented with multiple lime green hits. Possibly drawing inspiration from the movie “Scream,” the heel of both sneakers features a long-mouthed ghost, who also appears on the underside of the outsole. The top eyelets are special plastic pieces which look to drip slime down the sides. The other pair in the pack is of the mid variety, and is constructed with a flannel woven upper of blacks and greys. The more colorful of the two, this shoe uses a purple outsole and liner, as well as a light yellowish green Puma arch.

How do these stack up against the other Halloween sneakers we’ve seen?
