If you’re still scratching your head trying to figure out the story on this Solebox collaboration, take a break and check out these Solebox x Saucony Shadow 90s–You can actually see the shoe! If you haven’t ever heard of the Shadow 90, it’s because this collaboration called for a one-off design that meant mixing the Shadow 6000 upper and Shadow 5000 sole. As you can see, the uppers on these are completely black, mixing suede and mesh. Color accents are very minimal, but appear in the light orange liner and laces. Of course the Solebox logo is present on the heel, using the same orange as the laces. These are estimated to be a November or December release, so stay tuned for more information as it surfaces.  Yesterday we gave a glimpse of Solebox’s upcoming collaboration with the promise of an October update.Well, it looks like we may have more information right now. Solebox posted a video on YouTube yesterday, showing a Reebok Pump bubble with a very special feature. The video doesn’t reveal much, but through the dimly-lit video it looks like the upper of this shoe is black and the liner is a light color, just like in the aforementioned pics.
Could this be the same Solebox collab? The German brand churns them out, including these Adidas Consortiums, so these may not be the same sneaks we featured yesterday. We last saw Germany’s Solebox work with Pro-Keds on a black and red Royal Low, but based on these sneak peeks, they’re busy at work on yet another collab. From what we can see in the photos, a light blue liner, black mesh-like uppers and some pretty slick gold name pieces. According to Solebox, more info will come next month, and hopefully they’ll at least release which company they’re working with. And hopefully they’ll release more than 25 pairs, which is the total count of the aforementioned Pro-Keds that sold. Keep your fingers crossed and your browser tuned to Nice Kicks.  On September 19, 2009 we will be graced with the latest Solebox collaboration. The Solebox x adidas Consortium Rod Laver will retail for 80 euros and is a part of a collaboration pack including Clot, Wood Wood, D-Mop, and Goodfoot. On the Solebox shoe we can expect a dichotomy of rough and synthetic suede with compliments of mesh and 3M. As for coloring, the upper is wholly brown excluding the 3M heel tab and the tongue and lining are a deep burgundy. The sneakers come with two pairs of laces so you may choose whether you wish to tighten your feet with burgundy or brown laces. Or if it’s your thing, you can always go the mismatching route. Lastly, these kicks feature their moniker, “sole lover,” on the heel of the sole.

 Solebox has created quite the list of memorable collaborations, but one silhouette that they have given so much credibility to is the New Balance 1500. Hikmet, owner of Solebox, announced recently that the upcoming collab between Solebox and New Balance would indeed be the last on the 1500 thus earning the set the “Finals” nickname.
Hanon Shop just posted pics of the Black/Grey/Forest Green colorway. In total only 350 pairs will release on August 22nd worldwide. The price has not yet been announced. |
We got our first look at the upcoming New Balance x Solebox collab back in February. Many of you were into the shoes, but complained of the price (which is still to be determined). This Solebox x New Balance 1500 Pack features a nice combination of Nubuck, leather and mesh. The green colorway will be released worldwide, while the maroon will be released exclusively at Solebox on August 22nd. Availability will be limited to 350 pairs, so you’ll probably have to pay for the exclusivity, not to mention the currently weak dollar. If you’re on the fence, comparing the quality of a 1500, to a runner from your local mall spot is like comparing a Ferrari to a Fiero, there is none. What do you think a fair price for these is? |
