Since Fabolous first stepped onto the hip hop scene, he displayed an undeniable love for fashion. From throwback jerseys, to fitted caps, to sneakers, Fabolous has always found a way to be current in what seems to be the trends at those specific times.
Recently, Fabolous, set foot in Houston, Texas to aid Reebok in promoting its Classic Remix Collection. In the midst of everything going on, such as a concert and autograph sessions and most of all the promotion of the Reebok collection, Nice Kicks caught up with the New York rapper to discuss various sneaker and music topics. Nice Kicks: Your latest album, Loso’s Way, has been extremely successful with your fans and on the charts. How do you feel about the success of the album so far?
Fabolous: I mean it’s good. It’s good to see people still support good music and good hip hop; not just from me, or the east coast, or from New York but just good hip hop as a whole.
Nice Kicks: The mini-movie Loso’s Way, was a great addition to the CD. It left us on a major cliff hanger.? Can we expect the second installment or possibly a entire movie?
Fabolous: Yeah, we’re working on the 2nd part for Loso’s way 2. That’s what the movie was for; to build the anticipation and build a following so people can get used to it and want to see me in that lane of entertainment.
Nice Kicks: Let’s now talk sneakers since this is the real reason we are here. In your song When the Money Goes ft Jay-Z, you have a line that states, “In the same lime green as the Air Max Joggers.” Is that one of? your favorite shoes?
Fabolous: Yeah, I mean the Air max 95 is a classic shoe. Nike knows it. That’s why they bring the shoe out every summer. Plus, it does well for them, so that’s why it was thrown in there. It’s a shoe I have had a few times.
Nice Kicks: So are you a big Air Max fan as a whole or do you stick to the 95’s?
Fabolous: I mean, I do a bunch of the Air Max’s. In my younger times, I was more of a ’95 dude but now I kind of moved around and I’ll do the 90’s. I might do the 91’s here and there, so I move around a little bit.
“I just always wanted the new, hot shoes, the new hot Nike’s.” |
Nice Kicks: On the Street Dreams album, you made a song solely about throwback jerseys. Can we expect a song solely about shoes in the future, or will you leave that to Nelly (Air Forces, Stepped On My J’s)?
Fabolous: I might leave that to Nelly, but you never know though. I might do it. If it’s right it’s right. If not, I’ll just leave it alone.
