Nice Kicks: What are some of the performance benefits of the Cam Highlight Trainer?

Dave Dombrow: Well, I’ll start with the CompFit ankle sleeve. It’s support meets mobility. While being extremely supportive, it gives the flexibility needed to make those hard cuts. Next is the TPU wing in the shoe. The TPU wing locks you laterally while cutting left and right. Finally, the integrated sockliner allows your foot to be lower to the ground, which results in more stable movement but it does not sacrifice comfort.

Cam Newton Training in the Highlight Trainer

Nice Kicks: Under Armour is usually known for?privileging?performance, but how is this sneaker different from previous efforts?

Dave Dombrow: Branding on this shoe is different in the proportion of Cam’s logo to the Under Armour logo. The shoe speaks more to the style side, but we’re always going to be based in performance. As we evolve we’re going to see more off the field sneakers and fuse the two styles together. This trainer is versatile in terms of performance and style.

Under Armour CN1 Collection

Nice Kicks: What is the CN1 line and what can we expect in the future?

Dave Dombrow: CN1 is Cam Newton’s logo and new apparel/accessory line. The logo, of course, shows his initials and his jersey number. The CN1 line will feature products such as shirts, and other apparel you can wear casually, bags, etc. We want to insure the versatility of the Highlight Trainer when it comes to wearing it either at the gym or on a night out with your friends.

Nice Kicks: What about any inspired color schemes, such as using the colors of Blinn College, Westlake High School, Wounded Warrior Project, etc.?

Dave Dombrow: Yes, you will see those color schemes on the field in terms of the Highlight Cleat. On the Highlight Trainer we have some colorways in mind, like the “Atlanta Hawks” makeup that’s releasing on December 8th. You may be surprised on what you see later down the road.
