Switching Shoes at Halftime Has Become the Norm
In previous seasons, the act of switching shoes at halftime undoubtedly generated headlines the next morning. The act was a rarity, and only happened 2-3 times per year. Yet, the 2012-2013 NBA season saw five times as many switches as last season. Between Kicks On Court Champion Derrick Williams, LeBron James, Nick Young, Rudy Gay and Nate Robinson, we recorded a total of 26 switches, including the latter player’s three shoes in one game. We’re just waiting on someone to rock six shoes in one game; that’s four quarters and two overtimes worth.
