The 2013 College Football season kicks off tonight and despite last year’s winner being in the race, the competition for the Heisman Trophy is wide open. ESPN predicts that this year South Carolina standout Jadeveon Clowney will become only the second defensive player in history to win the award, with the reigning champion Johnny Manziel coming in third. Each of the top Heisman hopefuls have skills, but many of them also have sneakers. When college football players aren’t on the gridiron, they often turn into basketball players; at least by the shoes on their feet. Click through to see the profiles and statistics of some of this year’s frontrunners for the 2013 Heisman Trophy, and also what sneakers they have worn off of the field.
Who do you think is going to win the Heisman this year? Who has the best sneakers? Drop us a comment in the feedback box at the bottom of the page with your opinions, and keep Nice Kicks bookmarked for all of your sneaker news and information.
Johnny Manziel

Year: Sophomore
Position: Quarterback
2012 Stats: 3,706 yards, 26 touchdowns, 2012 Heisman Trophy Winner
Johnny Football will try to become only the second person in history to win two Heisman trophies, after becoming the first freshman in history to win the award. Suspended for the first half of the opener against Rice, Manziel has been in the public eye all off-season. Despite his scrutiny off of the field, one thing that has never been questioned is his talent, or his sneakers.
