Sustainability remans at the forefront of adidas’ innovation trajectory. Their Parley for the Oceans collaboration is truth to that end, and quite possibly a look into the future of footwear.

Releasing later this month in limited numbers, the adidas Ultra Boost Uncaged Parley features a knitted upper created of 95% Ocean Plastic and 5% recycled polyester. The laces, heel cap base material, heel webbing, heel lining and the sock-liner cover are made of recycled materials. Its design is inspired by ocean waves.

While just 7,000 pairs of the shoe will be released in the weeks to come, adidas plans to litter (no pun intended) the world with this sustainable shoe in the coming year. Adidas hopes to produce over one million pairs in 2017. They will be priced as this month’s pair will be, at $200 retail.
