Rising TikTok star Chozen Terrell-Hannah has been arrested by the FBI after investigators were able to connect him to a string of armed robberies that took place in the Metro Detroit area. The 22-year-old was identified as he was seen dancing on TikTok in what has been described as his “stick-up shoes.” Investigators noticed that Terrell-Hannah was wearing a pair of white Nikes with red highlights that were spotted directly at the scene of the crime.

Guess you could say he was the sole suspect in this case.

As investigators were gathering evidence, they used over a dozen TikTok videos by Terrell-Hannah to build a case. Known on TikTok as “ChozenWrld,” his account has over 150,000 followers, with video content ranging from dancing to comedy.

According to Detroit News, Chozen Terrell-Hannah admitted to robbing four stores after investigators raided his home on Wednesday, February 23rd. The robberies took place over a three-month period, between December 2021 until February 2022.

All four robberies had a similar storyline, leading investigators to believe that this was the act of a single individual. The first robbery was reported on Dec. 1 at a 7-Eleven in Commerce Township, Mich. with the suspect carrying a handgun. The suspect pointed a black handgun at the clerk, collected money, and ran off. Similar robberies then occurred on Jan. 13, Jan. 26, and Feb. 1. Witnesses described the same outfit each time. One of the robberies took place at a tobacco store, where investigators were able to notice that the suspect had pink or red hair peeking out from his black ski mask. This had been another identifier that could be seen in Terrell-Hannah’s TikTok videos.

Ultimately it was an anonymous tip that led investigators to Terrell-Hannah’s TikTok account. Although some eye-witnesses had reported that the suspect had been a taller white man, the FBI task force officer explained the identification process saying, “Based on my training and experience, I believe due to [Terrell-Hannah’s] light complexion, the victims of armed robberies, observing him under the circumstances and wearing the clothing described above, could describe him as either white or black. … These shoes are similar in appearance to the shoes worn in the above referenced armed robberies.”

With evidence pointing to Terrell-Hannah, the FBI set up surveillance outside his home before raiding it. Upon entry, the FBI was able to collect “the seizure of items believed to be used in the armed robberies.”

“[Chozen Terrell-Hannah] admitted to committing all four of the above-described armed robberies and acknowledged using the black backpack with a floral pattern in all four of the armed robberies,” the officer concluded.

Terrell-Hannah is charged with robbery affecting interstate commerce and possessing a firearm during a violent crime. These charges could result in more than a 20 year sentence.
