The World Cup is around the corner and New Balance has officially unveiled the newest iterations of their flagship soccer/football boots, the New Balance Furon v7 and the Tekela v4. New Balance has stated that they’ve been working on these boots for 3 years, capturing data and insight from players from all levels, from casual Sunday leagues to the likes of Bukayo Saka and Sadio Mane.
The Furon v7 is the lightest speed boot on the market currently, using their Hypoknit upper on the base for a soft and pliable feel to the boot while still being lightweight. The boot was designed to also bring the ball closer to the foot by moving the lacing to the lateral side with a floating canopy overlaid that gives a clean strike zone without sacrificing lockdown. The tooling on the soleplate features a chevron-studded configuration that gives the most responsive and bite on the pitch.
The Tekela v4 was designed to amplify traction and sensation. Tekela v4 goes laceless once again, using a full-foot stretch-knit upper bringing a responsive touch to the ball without losing its structural integrity with a stretchy 3D knit collar utilized for ease of access and flexibility in the boot. New Balance has emphasized that they wanted to improve the traction on the Tekela v4, as they’ve put in extensive research into preventing slippage specifically at aggressive leg angles while cutting and turning. Conical studs are utilized alongside strategically placed translucent bladed studs around the edge of the forefoot for extra traction for those aggressive turns and movements.
The New Balance Furon v7 and Tekela v4 “Headliner Taker” Pack is available today, October 17th, via newbalance.com and at select retailers for $215 respectively in an FG soleplate. Check out the photos below and for all the latest drop dates, head over to our Sneaker Release Dates page.
