Back in 2003, Yohji Yamamoto and adidas joined forces to create their conceptual sportswear label Y-3. This year, the joint venture hits its 20th Anniversary and to celebrate, the partners are releasing a new adidas Y-3 Stan Smith.

The upcoming sneaker debuted as part of Yohji Yamamoto’s Fall/Winter 2023 collection, which also reintroduces the Y’s for Men collection that concluded in 2010 after being launched in 1979.

While Y-3 is recognized for its experimental approach to design, Yohji Yamamoto keeps it simple on this adidas Stan Smith. The sneaker almost feels like a stripped back homage to the brand’s individual identities. Y-3 is represented by the sneaker’s timeless monochrome and the adidas legacy is present through the classic Stan Smith silhouette.

The upper is crafted with premium White leather and a Black leather tongue with a portrait of Yamamoto beneath the label’s “Endorsed By:” text. The upper sits atop a Black midsole and features Off-White Yohji Yamamoto branding on the heel, beneath the adidas Trefoil logo. Finishing details include perforated adidas Three-Stripes, thick White laces, and Yohji Yamamoto’s signature stamped on the insoles.

Look for the adidas Y-3 Stan Smith to release sometime this Summer. More details on the pair should be available soon, but until then, take a look at the sneakers below and follow @NiceDrops on Instagram for updates on upcoming sneaker release dates.
