In recent years, NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) deals have become a lucrative income opportunity for student athletes with big brands like Nike and adidas sponsoring some the latest and greatest upcoming talent. Now, Saucony is the first major sportswear brand to push the boundaries of NIL deals as the company has announced a new partnership with Galen College of Nursing to introduce a first-of-its-kind NIL Student Nurse program.
The new initiative was developed exclusively for nursing students and aims to “recognize, support and celebrate” the accomplishments of the next generation of nurses as they begin their careers.
The program launched on May 6th, the first day of National Nurses Week, with Saucony offering NIL sponsorships to four of Galen’s top nursing students.
We are thrilled to work with Saucony to elevate and celebrate the hard work and commitment that all nursing students demonstrate on their path to serving others added. These nursing students have mental, physical, and emotional strength that many don’t realize. They will be going into a workforce that needs them now more than ever and we are proud to support them and the future of healthcare in our country.
Mark Vogt, CEO of Galen College of Nursing
The select students included Lauren Lowe and Sarah Sangha, from the two-year Associate Degree in Nursing program; and Ashley Lutes and Brianna Nelly from the three-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.
Saucony officially welcomed the students onboard at a signing event with each student receiving the new Saucony Triumph 20 and Saucony Endorphin Shift 3. Saucony also rewarded each student with financial compensation for their participation in the NIL Student Nurse Initiative.
Together, all four students will serve as brand ambassadors and will be featured on both Saucony and Galen’s social platforms. Similar to what’s expected from other college athletes with NIL deals, this partnership will showcase the students’ performance and commitment to nursing.
