Cincinnati-based skate shop Unheardof and sportswear giant Adidas are expanding their collaborative Rivarly Low offerings with a brand-new colorway dedicated to Philip Lipschutz’s, the store founder’s, grandmother.
Blending skate culture with Adidas’ signature details, the upcoming Unheardof x Adidas Rivalry Low “Grandma’s Couch” sports a chunky aesthetic with retro stylings. The pair is primarily covered in a tan hue, however, it’s the floral print base (reminiscent of grandma’s curtains and curtains) that is the most eye-catching detail. Further elevating the pair are the contrasting red Three Stripes branding and tongue tabs and the embroidered “Adidas” branding on the toe.
Lipschutz has given fans a first look at the Unheardof x Adidas Rivalry Low “Grandma’s Couch” via social media, where he also shared his journey from sleeping on his grandmother’s couch to designing his very own Adidas collaboration in Portland.
“From sleepin on my mommy’s ugly couch to trips to Portland and meeting the entire team behind the brand of 3 stripes. Mommy you told me to always bring you fresh flowers, I always do when I visit you. You said ‘Listen to your grandma.’ She always told me ‘to be a good boy.’ Grandma not only did you save my life and taught good vs evil on your couch, but you taught all my lil homies. Chapter 2 is for you grandma. I can’t wait to see what’s next!,” Lipschutz wrote for the Instagram caption.
