The “Halo” Series Arrives in Grade School Sizing with The Upcoming Nike Kobe 9 EM Protro GS

Nike Basketball continues to celebrate the life and legacy of Kobe Bryant with the upcoming Nike Kobe 9 EM Protro GS “Halo” colorway.

In addition to the Nike Kobe 9 Elite Protro “Halo” and the Nike Kobe 9 Elite Low “Halo” colorways, the Swoosh will also release a “Halo” pair in grade school sizing.

Originally released in 2014, the model stood as a pivotal moment in the Kobe Bryant signature line, offering a unique take on the high-performance sneaker that broke boundaries. The Nike Kobe 9 EM brought the series a low-top silhouette with Engineered Mesh (EM) construction, providing a lighter, more breathable alternative to the standard Kobe 9.

While the original Kobe 9 featured an innovative Flyknit upper and a high-top design that mimicked the support of a boxing boot, the Kobe 9 EM opted for a sleeker, low-cut build. This change appealed to players who preferred greater ankle mobility without sacrificing stability or performance. The EM upper replaced Flyknit with a mesh that allowed for increased airflow and flexibility.

The Nike Kobe 9 EM maintained key performance elements like Lunarlon cushioning and a pressure-mapped outsole, ensuring Kobe’s vision of combining responsiveness with traction.

A decade after its debut, the Kobe 9 EM will get the Protro treatment with the all-white “Halo” colorway.

The Nike Kobe 9 EM Protro GS “Halo” releases for $120 on August 23, 2024, via SNKRS and select retailers.
