Multiple sources tell Nice Kicks that the Air Jordan 1 High ’85 “Chicago” is not releasing in 2025, despite the recently surfaced rumors.
The Air Jordan 1 High ’85 “Chicago” is a sneaker that has left an indelible mark on both basketball and sneaker culture. It evolved from its court origins to become a streetwear staple.
First released in 1985, this iconic colorway introduced the world to Michael Jordan’s game-changing partnership with Nike, blending style and performance in a way that revolutionized the sneaker industry.
The original “Chicago” colorway, with its striking mix of white, varsity red, and black, became synonymous with the Chicago Bulls and Michael Jordan’s early career. In the years that followed, the Air Jordan 1 “Chicago” only grew in popularity, symbolizing defiance and greatness.
Over the years, the “Chicago” has seen several reissues, each eagerly anticipated by sneakerheads. The first retro came in 1994, offering fans a chance to reconnect with the legendary silhouette during Jordan’s first retirement. The 2013 and 2015 re-releases continued the legacy, with the latter celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Air Jordan 1, staying true to the original design with premium materials and the classic Nike Air branding.
In 2022, the “Chicago” was reimagined once again with the “Lost and Found” release. This version took a nostalgic approach, designed to look like a pair of original Air Jordan 1s discovered in an old stockroom. The “Lost and Found” edition featured a vintage aesthetic with distressed leather, pre-yellowed midsoles, and a weathered box, offering a fresh take on the timeless design while tapping into the sneaker community’s love for storytelling and history.
However, a release of an Air Jordan 1 High ’85 “Chicago” is not expected to arrive anytime soon.
