Don C unearthed an unreleased Don C x Air Jordan 2 “Gold” colorway, remaining everyone of the Don C x Air Jordan 2 partnership that came well before the Air Jordan 2 hype.

The renowned Chicago native and founder of the streetwear label Just Don first collaborated with Jordan Brand in 2015. His vision was to pay homage to one of the most underrated silhouettes in the Jordan lineage, the Air Jordan 2, while injecting his signature high-end streetwear aesthetic.

The first release, known as the “Just Don” Air Jordan 2, dropped in a luxurious blue quilted leather, instantly setting itself apart from traditional Jordan releases. The shoe’s premium construction, which included suede and leather accents, elevated the Air Jordan 2 from a basketball sneaker to a fashion statement. Limited to just 800 pairs, it sold out immediately, cementing the collaboration’s status as one of the most coveted releases of the year.

Don C followed this up with other releases in similar styles, including the “Beach” colorway in 2016, featuring cream and tan tones that added a versatile, lifestyle-friendly approach to the silhouette. These collaborations stood out not only for their premium materials but also for the storytelling behind them, as Don C brought a luxury feel to a historically underappreciated model.

The partnership between Don C and Jordan Brand has brought new life to the Air Jordan 2, turning it into a grail-worthy sneaker for collectors and fashion enthusiasts alike. It’s a testament to how collaborations, when done thoughtfully, can transform classic designs into modern-day icons.

Since then, the Air Jordan 2 has risen within mainstream sneaker culture thanks to collaborations such as OFF-WHITE, Union LA, and others along with OG and new in-line releases.

The “Gold” Don C x Air Jordan 2 follows the design language of its predecessors with a luxurious look with a monochromatic finish. While the colorway will most likely remain vaulted, a rekindling of the collaborative partnership would be received with open arms.
