It was Game 1 of the 1989 Eastern Conference Championship and the Bulls were set to face the “Bad Boys” in Detroit. Michael Jordan was just two weeks removed from having hit “The Shot,” and was rocking the Air Jordan IV Black/Cement Grey in an attempt to again ensure on court heroics. He wasn’t alone in doing so, either. A then ringless Phil Jackson, as a sign of solidarity, was also sporting the Jordan signature model. Unfortunately though, the Pistons prevailed and the Bulls would have to wait another two years before the Zen Master would lead them to an NBA Championship. Now, over twenty years later, Jackson has led the Bulls and Lakers to a grand total of 11 titles and coached multiple Hall of Famers. He likely never again roam the sideline though, and probably won’t be seen in Jordans any time soon, either. So, what will he rock in retirement? Our money’s on Birkenstocks.
