High flying, high school phenom Tracy McGrady might be the definition of overnight celebrity.? As a prep student at Mt. Zion Academy, McGrady went to Adidas ABCD Camp virtually unknown and left as the camp’s top rated player.? The rest as they say is history as McGrady went on to forgo college and enter the NBA Draft where he would be selected by the Toronto Raptors.? He spent his first few years in T-Dot coming off the bench and supporting third cousin Vince Carter.? Ready for the limelight, McGrady dipped out of Canada to play in home state Florida for the Orlando Magic.? It was in Orlando where the T-Mac persona was born and he would reach superstar status.? McGrady was soon regarded as one of the best pure scorers in the NBA and was always a leading All-Star vote getter.? He would capture the NBA Scoring Title in the 2002-2003 and 2003-2004 averaging 32.1 and 28 points per game respectively.? Following the 2003-2004 season McGrady was dealt in a blockbuster trade to the Houston Rockets wear he would team up with Yao Ming.? Although injuries have slowed his career as of late, McGrady is still a top notch two-guard that makes the Rockets a force year in and year out in the West.
After emerging on the scene at Adidas ABCD Camp, McGrady would return the favor by signing a shoe contract with the Three Stripes.? Much like Kobe Bryant, Adidas would start McGrady in mid-level to high end guard shoes and would eventually give him his own line once his star status began to blossom.? The T-Mac line is perhaps the longest and most prestigious line of any Adidas basketball player.? The shoe line is marked with top-notch performance, cutting-edge technology, and neck breaking colorways.? His most iconic shoe moment was in the 2004 All-Star Game when he wore a mismatch pair of all royal and all red patent leather T-Mac 3’s.? The T-Mac line was successful for years but has since come to an end en route of Adidas’ team concept marketing.? McGrady currently plays in high end Adidas shoes with his name and logo in special Rocket’s colorways.? While certain colorways bare his name they are not his signature shoe but are available to the public.?
