Back in the ’80s, Converse was a major player in the basketball sneaker market. When the Celtics and Lakers met in the 1984, 1985 and 1987 NBA Finals, it seemed each year as if every player on the floor was wearing Converse. The two biggest stars in the rivalry were Larry Bird and Magic Johnson – #33 country boy against #32 city slicker, Larry’s iconic black Converse against Magic’s white and purple PEs. The two Hall of Famers had epic battles on the hardwood, and to commemorate their rivalry, Orravan Design has created the Bird and Johnson-inspired Converse Pro Leather “Larry vs. Magic” Custom. These fully hand painted pieces of art with each legend’s full face on the side were created with an artistic vision to convey Bird and Magic’s legacies. As it always has been, Bird’s side uses a black base with Celtics accents and Magic’s is set in white with Lakers contrast.
