While many of the major sneaker brands design their latest running shoes around the natural feeling of running barefoot, Vibram took the trend literally by creating the FiveFingers silhouette that is truly shaped like a foot. The company based its product on the idea that the molded model produced health benefits from its uninhibited design, but that is exactly the reason why they entered a recent lawsuit. Valerie Bezdek argued that Vibram made false and unsubstantiated claims about the fitness advantages, and has now earned a settlement with the company. Now, valid class members who bought a pair of FiveFingers will be refunded a percentage of their purchase, and Vibram has agreed to discontinue making any claims that the glove-like footwear strengthens muscles or reduces foot injuries.
