Matt Bonner Lands Shoe Deal Through Twitter
Shoe contracts are signed every summer by some of the top players in the NBA, but Matt Bonner, the Spurs’ 10-year veteran, broke ground by landing a shoe deal during the latter part of January via Twitter, of all places. Bonner took over the Nice Kicks Twitter account to talk sneakers – or his lack thereof – with fans prior to the start of the NBA season (it was his first time using Twitter). adidas eventually caught wind of Bonner being down to his last few pairs of shoes, and it led to a partnership between the two. Lesson #1: Use all resources.
