Community Collections stays in the City of Brotherly Love to explore the stash of a collector who doesn’t like rare sneakers. Aaron Preacher is currently mapping out his run of retros that he hopes will someday contain every OG Air Jordan colorway from I-XX, but is caught up in a fight with the hype. He believes that hype comes from rarity, and because this Philadelphia shoe enthusiast doesn’t like hype, he stays away from the rare pairs. Originally hooked on the Nike Air Force 1, his current stock is also full of NBs, SBs, and other makes and models.

Sneaker Story:

“Truthfully, my sneaker collection is a vehicle to my past. It’s a way for me connect to and store memories of my childhood. Most of my shoes are retros, aside from my SBs, most of my shoes are retro basketball and football/training sneakers. Each pair is connected to a memory or a story. Sometimes, it’s memories of a professional basketball or football game. Sometimes, it’s memories of friends that had the shoes when we were young. Sometimes, it’s just a memory of seeing it in the store. I often remember people that I haven’t seen or thought about in 20 years, because buying the retro initiates a memory of them because they had them when we were young. Sure, I have a handful of Kobes and LeBrons, but that’s about it as far as new sneaker models go. I’d like to eventually have every OG colorway of every Jordan I-XX.”
