“Do I take pleasure in that they paid $150 million more than they planned on paying? Absolutely.” -Kevin Plank (Under Armour CEO)

Under Armour may not have been able to snatch Kevin Durant away from Nike, but they definitely drove up the price. In a recent interview with Bloomberg TV, UA CEO Kevin Plank sat down to discuss the entire story of KD’s recent sneaker free agency, in which he expressed his satisfaction for having an impact. After his previous deal expired last month, the reigning NBA MVP inked a new deal that could be worth more than $300 million over 10 years, after Under Armour trumped their original offer and raised the bar. Plank later goes on to explain how he believes his brand sent a clear message to the entire world of sports with their contention in Durant’s decision, as well their signing of Gisele Bündchen and the future of Under Armour.
