| The New Balance MT580 was first created as a trail shoe exclusively for Japanese footwear chain Mita (which is where the shoe receives its MT prefix from) in the 90s. The shoe was quickly adopted by many and was the canvas for many collaborations between artists and stores in Japan including Stussy, realmad HECTIC, and UNDFTD.
For many years the shoes were that “green grass” that few in the US would be able to obtain, even if they had the money for the shoes.
