Players, like P.J. Tucker, DeMar DeRozan and Nick Young, served as unofficial endorsers of Kobe’s ninth signature shoe last year, but Kobe Bryant is getting a chance to do what he couldn’t do during the 2013-2014 NBA season: debut new colorways of his own shoe on court. In last night’s 20-point loss to the Phoenix Suns last night, Bryant scored 31 points while wearing a predominately purple Nike Kobe 9 Elite for the first time. The Mamba’s latest PE closely resembles the “Michael Jackson” Nike Kobe 9 Elite Low that released this past summer with its Hyper Grape and Crave Purple Flyknit upper. One noticeable difference between the two – other than the fact that one is a high-top and the other is a low-top – is the outsole. Kobe’s latest PE is equipped with a white outsole, while the summer release featured a translucent bottom.
