Sure, the biggest Kicks On Court news from last night centered around Kyrie Irving and the debut of his first signature shoe, the Nike Kyrie 1. But there were other sneaker notables, such as King James’ wear of the “Data” Nike LeBron 12 and Carmelo Anthony’s debut of a blue suede Jordan Melo M10 PE. The latter marks the fourth Melo player exclusive that has featured an all-suede construction in four years, which seems to be an ever-increasing fashion theme with player exclusives these days. Today, we take a brief look back at the most recent player exclusive debuts – from Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James, Rasheed Wallace and others – on court that were constructed predominately in suede.
9. Nike Air Max LeBron VII “Phantom” Suede PE
When: February of 2009-2010 NBA Season
King James first wore suede on the NBA hardwood during the 2009-2010 NBA campaign, his last season in Cleveland. The “Phantom” LeBron VII’s leather panels and mudguard were swapped out for black suede on a pair he wore against the Boston Celtics in a nationally televised game.
