In light of the Ferguson decision and the non-indictment in the Eric Garner case, the justice system within America continues to showcase its fundamental flaws. With the two high-profile cases involving African-American men, reigning NBA MVP Kevin Durant looked to make a subtle, yet bold statement during his game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Durant inscribed “Black Lives Matter” in black sharpie along the side panels of his Nike KD 6 PE. In addition, Durant also penned a Bible verse along the silhouette that reads: “Ephesians 3:20”. This particular scripture states: “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.”
What a great message by a great player, who happens to be an even better person. Props to Kevin Durant for the gesture; and yes, Black Lives Matter!
