Although founded in Baltimore and maintains primary residence in the eastern region, Under Armour is taking their talents to the Northwest in a big way. Confirmed earlier this week by the Portland Business Journal, the brand just leased a 70,000 square foot space in Portland, the hometown of rival Nike. Hoping to strengthen their fight against the sportswear juggernaut, UA also persists that the move is to further heighten their stance in the footwear and innovation market. Their new operational facility in Portland is a former YMCA of which it’s said UA has taken out a long-term lease. Under Armour is expected to move into the new space sometime in 2016 after a multi-year renovation. The massive space features a fitness facility, a swimming pool and basketball courts.
