As Twitter continues to decline in usage amongst millennials, Facebook has seen a rise in usage amongst the key demographic for brands. While on the surface, one might be able to guess who is winning the Facebook race by looking at the number of fans a brand has, but when it comes to Facebook, like all other social mediums, engagement matters far more than reach.
With the way that Facebook’s algorithm decides what content is displayed and to which fans, it is increasingly important for brands to analyze the number of people “talking about” their page rather than just the number of fans they have connected to their page.
To parallel the old phrase, if a story of a tree falling in the forest is never seen by your fans, did it even happen?
With that in mind, we took a look at which brands are winning on Facebook measured by not just the number of fans the brands have, but also the number of fans engaged measured by the number “talking” about their brand, and lastly the percentage of their connections that are actually engaged with the pages. All data was pulled today, March 3rd.
The brands we selected were the most written about on Nice Kicks for the past month and we threw in our own analytics just for fun – the results surprised us. Take a look at the infographic below.
