Adidas Baseball today reveals a set of commemorative cleats in honor of the great Jackie Robinson. The world will celebrate his heroic musings in civil rights and sports on Jackie Robinson Day, April 15.
Inspired by his crowing achievements both on and off the field, the adidas design team reimagined the adizero Afterburner 2 and Energy Icon Boost 2, respectively. Both of the silhouettes – each lightweight and breaking conformity in modern cleat design and performance – highlight references to Robinson by way of newspaper headlines and his iconic number 42. What’s more, heather wool materials are utilized to pay homage to the wool uniforms and caps that players wore during the 1940’s.
