Rick Owens is chief in his ability to push cultural experiences forward. Whether it be apparel, sneakers or even furniture, Owens’ penchant to forecast trends and see the future before it actually takes place has positioned him among the best designers in the world.
His ongoing adidas partnership continues to steer the wheel where sneaker culture is concerned, and this gem from the American designer’s spring/summer 2017 offering may be his next breakout hit.
Drawing inspiration from the original Rick Owens Runner while also implementing encapsulated Boost technology, the Rick Owens x adidas Runner Level Low silhouette sparks intrigue through contemporary shaping, sleek lines and avant-garde design cues.
Owens adds thick padding to the ankle collar while working with a dual colored outsole split by angular tooling just slightly to the rear of the shoe’s centermost point. A sharp slope gives the body of the shoe a slimmed aesthetic, marking a turning point from many of Owens’ past styles that came standard with a wider profile.
