With more than five years in the game and counting, BOOST tech is still one of adidas’s top priorities as the Three Stripes is setting their sights on the stars with the upcoming adidas Solar BOOST Collection. Shoutout to NASA for the guiding light, as the shoe gets outfitted with data-driven Tailored Fiber Placement for support, while incorporating Parley material woven into the upper’s fabric.

Whoever said sneakers ain’t a science is wrong about this model as adidas put NASA’s motion-capture system (ARAMIS) to work in an effort to measure just how much strain the reinforced the upper can take. As evidenced by its name, BOOST holds in down on the midsole, sitting atop a StretchWeb outsole, while managing to weigh in at less than 11 ounces.

It’s just a short wait until the Solar BOOST lands at U.S. retailers as early as May 17, running for $160 USD.
