10 years ago, it could be argued that the Air Jordan 5 “Grape” was the most coveted retro on the market not named the Air Jordan 11. The shoe’s first — and at that time only — retro release in 2006 was incredibly hard to get and the market for non-Chicago OGs was red-hot (no pun intended).
Fast forward to the 2013 retro rendition of the “Grape” 5s and the Hornets hues had been done to death with little to no appetite for the said palette. Somehow, someway, the newly unveiled “Black Grape” 5s were a hit with some ‘heads even arguing that they were better than the OGs. Strange, but true.
Bring it up to 2015 and we saw this once more with the “Pre-Grape” 5s, a said to be OG sample that never released. The navy upper served as odd and not as nice as the black nubuck pair, but still the idea of crate digging was welcomed if legit.
All of that brings us to today and word of this summer seeing another Alternate “Grape” 5. It’s reported the a slightly shifted scheme of the OG will hit this July as mentioned and mocked up below.
*LEAK ALERT*: @Jumpman23 is back this July with a new Air Jordan 5 Retro NRG. The pair will feature the same colours as the ‘Grape’ AJ5 that dropped in 2013.
Let us know what you think of our mockup, will you be looking to cop yourself a pair?
