While it feels like more than just a few years ago when Kanye West donned the Energy Boost ESM during a halftime performance at Chicago’s United Center, igniting the shoe’s trajectory drastically, it was just 2015 when the Boost enabled shoe first released.

Now, Cambridge-based Concepts has partnered with adidas Consortium to release a budding pair quite similar to the iteration West laced up three years ago.

Although without the ESM moniker — and birthed from opposing inspiration — the Concepts x adidas Energy Boost “Shiatsu” adorns a pristine white knit upper guarded by a translucent marbled TPU cage. Joined by a jade terrycloth liner that references Asian culture and the Jade stone’s importance in traditional Shiatsu Massage, the underlying vibe pulls from upscale hotel spas throughout Asia.

Full-length Boost technology cushions the shoe from the bottom up, joining traditional Asian heritage with modern-day performance details. Expect the Concepts x adidas Consortium Energy Boost “Shiatsu” next Saturday, July 21, at Concepts’ Newbury Street and New York locations at 10am EST and cncpts.com at 11am EST. Each pair comes customary with exclusive Concepts packaging.
