Dating back to 2015, there hasn’t been a more culturally impactful sneaker for adidas than the Ultra Boost. Released three years ago after the introduction of Boost technology in 2013, adidas deemed the sneaker as the “best running shoe ever.”

In part, the shoe’s running performance proved exceptional. However, its trajectory as a lifestyle sneaker reached far greater heights. The adidas Ultra Boost has undoubtedly been one of the brand’s biggest successes since is release; it was those earliest pairs that set to course for the shoe now in its fourth installment.

Later this year, adidas is set to return original colorways of the Ultra Boost 1.0 — the beloved first iteration of the Primeknit and Boost focused design. Adored styles like the “Cream,” “Multi White” and “Multi Navy” will retro before the end of the year. It’s also reported that the Black/Purple debut colorway will also return.

Although the Ultra Boost has been of monumental importance for adidas, in recent times its hype is beginning to fade. Blame it on general fatigue or the shortened attention span within the culture, the UB 1.0 retro could be just what the series needs to regain its footing.

Update 11/1: The adidas Ultra Boost “Legacy Pack” featuring “Chalk,” “Multi-White” and “Multi-Navy” colorways are due out beginning November 8 when the “Multi” pairs which will retail for $200 each. The “Chalk” edition also retails for $200 but won’t drop until November 21. Each pair will be available on adidas.com.
