Jerry Lorenzo‘s long assumed Nike partnership is finally coming into clearer view, although not quite yet in the most traditional manner. His Fear of God Essentials label is partnering with Nike subsidiary Converse, which sees Lorenzo release a collection with a Swoosh offset before the primary brand itself.
No matter the sequencing, excitement continues to surround Fear of God partnering sneaker releases. This one with Converse leans generously into the Chuck 70, the retro-fitted high-top modernized with contemporary materials. Two foundational Black/White and White/Black colorways were recently revealed, effortlessly exploring a smooth two-tone aesthetic that proves both effective and forward.
Lorenzo’s awareness of style and function has long been one of his greatest design strengths. Here, it rings true as he knowingly removes the need for Converse purists to tie their laces around the shoe’s ankle collar. Instead, Lorenzo provides an opening at the heel for the laces to flow through naturally, providing the desired look and the function of keeping them in place. Co-branded heel bumpers punctuate this sleek new collaboration.
The Fear of God Essentials x Converse Chuck 70 Pack will release for fall/winter 2018. Lorenzo’s FOG Essentials label will also debut a budding apparel offering that features denim, fleeces and overcoats.
Update 12/7: The new Fear of Good Essentials apparel collection released today with the Converse Chuck 70 collaboration officially set to release on December 12 at select retailers including Pac Sun.
