Engineered Garments has always represented some of the best in Japanese fashion. Blending far east aesthetics with an overarching Americana theme, design lead Daiki Suzuki has masterfully cultivated his visual language over the long haul. The current batter up in the adidas Ultra Boost Collective lineup, Suzuki translates his American sportswear influence to a very patriotic Ultra Boost.

Taking to one of the earliest Ultra Boost Primeknit patterns, Suzuki cleverly shows that he knows a bit about the shoe’s celebrated history. He then adds a vibrant royal blue hue to the lightweight knit fabrication, which continues in monotone fashion at the tongue and ankle/heel support. White hits mark the centermost point of the tongue and the lateral three stripes at the paneling. A shift is noted at the medial siding, though, where red, white, and blue stripes drive home Engineered’s longtime affinity for Stateside aesthetics. It persists even down to the basketball-focused gum outsole.

Expect Suzuki’s Engineered Garments x adidas Ultra Boost on October 20 at select Consortium retailers.
