When LeBron James wore a black Colin Kaepernick x Nike t-shirt ahead of a Los Angeles Lakers preseason game earlier this month, it put to bed claims that Nike actually wasn’t producing a signature collection for the former Niners quarterback.
That same shirt that not too long ago covered the back of James is now available for purchase.
Largely simple at t-shirts go, the long sleeve black tee features a Kaepernick patch at the bottom left corner joined by a reflective Nike logo on the sleeve and 3M detailed “KAEPERNICK” across the back. More intimately, on the inner sleeve, “believe in something, even if it means sacrificing everything” calls out to Colin’s ultimate sacrifice.
The $50 tee is available now on Nike.com. **Editor’s Note: That tee has since sold out.**
Update 2/21: Nike continues to release key installments to its Colin Kaepernick collection with the latest being a blacked out “True to 7” Icon jersey. With his surname perched across the back, this monochromatic black and white jersey inherently represents blackness and, too, unity through its subtle yet very apparent color language.
The jersey will be available in full men’s sizes and retail for $150 upon release. For notifications to when it will drop, click here.
The announcement of Kaep’s budding jersey comes after first a special edition “I’m With Keap” kit and the subsequent end of Colin’s collusion case against the NFL which was settled earlier this month.
Several reports indicate that Kaepernick reached a settlement for upwards to $80 million. Those claims remain unfounded as all parties involved agreed to a non-disclosure agreement.
For those true to themselves on and off the field. Proudly, unapologetically and against all odds. This is only the beginning. #TrueTo7 https://t.co/lIzn4MNB77@girlsclubny @JRFoundation @peaceplayers @PowerPlayNYC pic.twitter.com/1sf4Nogs4g
