Dover Street Market and Nike’s Air Force 1 are both deeply entrenched in New York City. Although Dover is inherently rooted in Japan, its first splash in the States was of course in New York. The Air Force 1 is almost as representative of the city as a New Era Yankees fitted.
Together they’ve been a product of collaboration several times.
This upcoming release between the two is a throwback to the Uptown of old, with “NYC” scripted across the heel with a Swoosh slashed in between. The opposite heel features DSM.
Although simplistic, this ode to elder times is very present in the Air Force 1 resurgence. Alongside retro releases that harken back to the ’90s and early 2000s, retro-fitted styles like this one lend further credence to the importance of the Uptowns and all that they spawned.
The Dover Street Market x Nike Air Force 1 Low “NYC” is set to release on December 20. It has not been disclosed if they’ll release at any retailers outside of DSM.
