Family history doesn’t always define a family legacy. Jerry Lorenzo’s family upholds deep-seated roots in baseball, as his father, Jerry Manuel, both played in the majors as well as coached and managed there. Jerry, however, through his musings with Fear of God, has taken to a different sport.
Producing his Fear of God Basketball High Top and now two performance basketball sneakers in collaboration with Nike — the Air Fear of God 1 and the Fear of God Shoot Around — Lorenzo has proven himself a threat in basketball footwear design.
Working in tandem with Leo Chang of Nike, the beloved designer who’s worked on Kevin Durant’s signature series and oversees much of Nike Basketball’s output, Lorenzo’s Fear of God Shoot Around is revealed in its second colorway today. This “Light Bone” edition of the Fear of God 1 takedown is minimal while simultaneously being anything but.
With sneaky doubled stacked Zoom cushioning for an elevated stance, a throwback to retro Nike Basketball design is rediscovered through the top strap and shiny Swoosh detailing. Premium leather cascades over the hightop silhouette which sees its lacing system wrapped around the ankle collar and secured with a tonal toggle.
Lorenzo’s Nike Fear of God Shoot Around “Light Bone” is expected to release soon. Stay tuned for additional details.
Update 1/17: Alongside the Air Fear of God 1 of the same tonal expression, Jerry Lorenzo’s Nike Air Fear of God Shootaround “Light Bone” will release globally on January 19. Retail pricing is $300 USD with a closer look provided by Sneaker Politics.
