Nike’s Zoom Pegasus Turbo was the hit sneaker of 2018 few saw coming. A time-honored series that was always more functional than stylish found duality with its latest edition.
Both a critical success as well as an aesthetic must-have, this balanced canvas stands as the ideal design for Jun Takahashi’s GYAKUSOU running project.
An offshoot of Jun’s UNDERCOVER label, GYAKUSOU appears to be the very first to collaborate with Nike on its budding Pegasus Turbo. Updated with a toggle lacing system and collaborative branding, this first colorway adds tint to the Zoom X midsole while the upper is reinforced with panels that don’t show on traditional iterations of the shoe.
While this may be one of several colorways, this first look at the GYAKOSOU x Nike Zoom Pegasus Turbo proves that the running silhouette can function outside of its foundational purpose. The shoe is expected to release for spring/summer 2019.
Update 1/16: A new report from py_rates alleges that the GYAKOSOU x Nike Zoom Pegasus Turbo will release in two colorways on February 28. The second colorway that hasn’t yet been seen comes in Gold Dart/Pale Ivory-Iron Grey.
