Emerging from the depths of late ’80s sneaker design comes Nike’s Air Max Light, due for a retro campaign now in the midst of its 30th anniversary. A bit of an offshoot within the hallmark Air Max lineage, the very-first retro pair of the new year is due out next week.

Originally released in 1989,  two years after the foundational Air Max 1, the Air Max Light was first called the Air Max 2 as it was considered a sequel. Traditionally, the shoe featured thermoplastic straps, breathable nylon mesh, and a variable-width lacing system. And while the materials may have changed on this retro pair three decades removed, the look and feel remain the same.

Look for the Nike Air Max Light in white, red and black on January 10 at select retailers globally.
