It’s not even slightly skeptical that Skepta knows a thing or two about fashion and sneakers. After all, most of his looks are complementary of one another, accenting each other accordingly.
The English grime artist not only has the English tailoring on lock, he’s also got the classic British Sportswear appeal that’s become so timeless over the years. In fact, that’s probably one of the unspoken truths that has landed him several of Nike’s most prominent retro runner collabs over the last few years.
Street Style Version of Sportswear
Skepta’s influence in sportswear really goes back to 2015 when he walked in the Nasir Mazhar fashion show for the brand’s Spring/Summer presentation, wearing all black in the form of warm-up pants, a rain jacket and Triple Black Air Force 1s to top things off.
However, it certainly didn’t begin and end there. He’s been seen wearing all kinds of vibrant tech jackets and athletic inspired pants over the years. Also, he’s especially renowned for his eccentric track suits that he’s know for pairing Air Max 97s and OFF-WHITE x Nike Air VaporMaxes.
Italy’s Prada label is having a moment right now in menswear, switching from making their traditional tailoring a priority and bringing the heat to high-end sportswear classics. Skepta picked up on this long ago of course and has even taken a simple combination like a graphic hoodie and jeans to the next level by throwing in some of their Made in Italy sneakers.
And of course Skepta’s Air Max collaborations just wouldn’t be complete without a full track suit to go with them, matching his white, blue and red Air Max BWs accordingly.
High-End Tailoring
Skepta is known for his eclectic high-end tailoring.
It’s even become such a staple look for him that he’s brought it to the red carpet, wearing tartan trousers, a black trench coat, and a bucket hat with his OFF-WHITE x Nike Air VaporMaxes.
Aside from the wild wardrobe essentials themselves, Skepta also understands the accessories game, incorporating not one, but several necklaces and even a rounded pair of sunglasses with drawcord belt into his look.
While the artist may understand the tailoring look to a T, he will usually find a way to incorporate his signature tech style into the look. On another red carpet appearance, he paired leather pants and black VaporMax Pluses with an oversized Fred Perry jacket with a utility vest layered underneath.
