Among the best sneaker stories of the earliest moments of 2019 is undoubtedly Russell Westbrook’s Jordan Why Not Zer0.2. A performance sneaker that’s quickly grown as a style play off-court, the model continues to glow by cultural standards with recently All-Star and PE iterations.
Following the “Own the Game” All-Star edition and the whimsical “Supersoaker” PE, Russ’ Why Not Zer0.2 is moving both at retail and in the minds of sneaker enthusiasts. The latter, of course, often times means more than sales ever could. That driving force will motion forward with greater steam with the unveiling of the “Gameboy” edition.

Playing on the adoration of the elder handheld gaming device, Beaverton design firm Recon Beat Lab have outfitted the Why Not Zer0.2 in a theme that harkens back to the Gameboy in its earliest form. Two-tone grey mesh engulfs much of the court sneaker while Russ’ logo fills an OG Gameboy cartridge masquerading as a hangtag.
It’s likely that this art piece won’t see a general release. However, generally speaking, they’ll make other general releases more appealing. Pairs of the Jordan Why Not Zer0.2 can be purchased here.
