Since its inception back in 2003, Nike’s Doernbecher partnership has been a highpoint in sneaker culture with its annual output.

This year’s collection holds singular importance unlike any other before it, as it will feature what appears to be a very welcomed retro release.

Originally released in 2009, the Air Jordan 6 “Doernbecher” has long been one of the series’ shining achievements. While all Doernbecher pairs have both sentimental and monetary value, this one rose as a sartorial statement loved by many beyond some of the more traditional releases of Michael Jordan’s sixth signature shoe.

The shoe will retro later this year according to py_rates who recently leaked official images of the 2019 edition that appears in true ’09 form. Release details have not been announced nor confirmed by Jordan Brand.

Update 2/22: The Air Jordan 6 Doernbecher retro has been uploaded to the Nike SNKRS server and set to release tomorrow, February 23. All sales proceeds will be donated to the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.
