By most measures, the adidas Yeezy Basketball Shoe is assumed to release in the “Quantum” colorway in 2019.
Seen on the feet of Kanye, Kim and Don C, the long-awaited hoops debut from Yeezy has been oft-delayed but appears official.
Though this Yeezy Basketball Shoe has clearly been made in more than just Kanye’s size and spotted in a wide array of colorways, some might remember there was an alternate Yeezy Basketball shoe that hit the sample stages.
An alternate take on the Yeezy Basketball shoe surfaced back in 2018 with caged Boost tooling similar to Crazy Explosive models.
In addition, the model makes clear references to the 700 in regards to toe box styling.
There do appear to be a couple versions of this take.
Just how?
At one point, Kanye was seen wearing said shoe out and about years ago. As you may notice, this pair packs a neoprene sockliner with pull loop similar to that of the Yeezy “Batman” Boots. The “Triple Black” pair seen in 2018 featured a more conventional closure system up top.
In the time since the “Triple Black” leak, we hadn’t seen much from this style. Until now.
In the recent Forbes interview, numerous Yeezy Basketball shoes were spotted with the alternate styling.
Influence from Nic Galway’s Tubular series and the Yeezy 700 are all over said shoes.
While up top tooling, closure and cut all differ from sample to sample, the 700 toe box is a constant.
Boost caging also varies on each sample in regards to stance, thickness and finish.
From highs to mids, peep all the alternate Yeezy Basketball samples seen above and below.
