Sneakers are more than just leather, suede, and plastic. Sneakers are vessels for stories, sources for inspiration, and an opportunity to express who we are. Sneakers, in short, are a reflection of those who wear them.

There’s no better example of the true meaning behind sneakers than that of Peyton Smith and his own Air Jordan 4. Smith, a cancer survivor, had the opportunity to create a pair for himself and his entire family. The Air Jordan 4 “Make-A-Wish” by Smith is simple in nature but means so much more.

The detailing on this pair is like no other as the heel tab features the signature Nike Air on one shoe while the other features the Swoosh intertwined to create a cancer ribbon. In addition to that, Peyton added key details of his life, such as the places he’s lived, his name, and more.

Take a closer look at the pair below. Be sure to give Peyton a follow on the ‘gram here for a more behind-the-scenes look at his inspiring AJ4.
