The beauty of sneakers and sneaker culture is the stories that stem from it. Without the narratives and details behind some of our favorite silhouettes and colorways, sneaker culture wouldn’t be as enriching as we now know it.
Sneakers, especially custom sneakers, give us the opportunity to express ourselves in ways that bring us together. Neil and Joel Caro are just another example of what sneakers can do to move us towards one another and intern towards a greater good.
The Caro brothers lost their mother to breast cancer in 2011. Now, Joel Caro brings together his passion for sneakers and candles to raise $10,000 for the fight against the disease.
The custom Air Jordan 1 serves as a testament to their mother and a match holder for the set of candles that come with the shoe’s packaging. Every $5 donation serves as an entry.
100% of the fundraiser’s proceeds will go towards Living Beyond Breast Cancer, a national non-profit organization that seeks to create a world that understands there is more than one way to have breast cancer.
Take a detailed look at the pair below, and be sure to head over to the fundraiser here for a chance to win while supporting a great cause.
