Seemingly a quiet week within sneakers, an underrated list of releases is set to occur throughout the week. But surprisingly, a quiet week is exactly what the doctor ordered. No early morning ‘Ls, no early drives to your local skate shop or Footlocker, and less stress all around. However, this doesn’t mean that there are not sneakers to cop.
Nice Picks is a column discussing our favorite releases occurring this week and where to purchase them (click on the header links)! We’ve sifted through the noise to find our best picks, whether that be in-line or collaboration. Take a look below to see our choices (and yes, the Yeezy Foam RNNR is slated to release this week, but we wouldn’t categorize them as a sneaker).
5. Maison Margiela x Reebok Club C
Colorway: TBD
Style #: TBD
Release Date: March 24, 2021
Price: $300
Maison Margiela and Reebok have continued their collaborative efforts, this time through two select Club Cs. While the “Black” pair is cool and all, this “White” iteration exclaims simplicity and freshness. Clean cut leather panels are seen throughout the upper, while the designer brand has added their imprint on the tongue and insole. If you have money to drop this week on a white leather sneaker, this is a solid choice.
4. adidas Yeezy 700 V3 “Kyanite”
Colorway: Kyanite
Style #: GY0260
Release Date: March 25, 2021
Price: $200
There’s no question that the 700 has been a favorite among the Yeezy brand, only trailing behind the 350. In its Version 3, the 700 has ditched a Boost midsole for an EVA cushion, all helping to lower the price from $300 to $200. This specific “Kyanite” variation mirrors the previous “Azareth” colorway, and let me tell you, it’s HOT. One of my favorite colorways to release yet, this will definetely be on my radar this week.
3. Anderson Bluu x Diadora “Wine Collection”
Release Date: March 24, 2021
Price: $150
We don’t discuss Diadora too often, but the Italy-based brand has a multitude of sleepers that are extremely lux and innovative. In their latest “Wine Collection, graphic designer Anderson Bluu and Diadora have teamed up on two iterations of the N9002, one of them in “Cabernet” and the other in “Chardonnay.” The collaboration pays homage to Italian food and wine culture, so if you’re into Italian culture or otherwise love story-telling sneakers, this is a collection to be on the look out for.
2. Air Jordan 5 “Stealth 2.0”
Colorway: White / Stealth / Black / Hyper Royal
Style #: DD0587-140
Release Date: March 27, 2021
Price: $190
The Air Jordan 5 “Stealth 2.0” reprises the classic 2006 pair, almost exactly in OG form. A white leather upper constructs the upper, while hits of “Hyper Royal” are seen on the sock-liner and lace holder. Underfoot, an icy sole completes the design. With the AJ5 having already started the year off strong, look for this trend to continue.
1. DQM x Nike Air Max 90 “Bacon”
Colorway: Sail / Straw / Medium Brown / Sheen
Style #: CU1816-100
Release Date: March 26, 2021
Price: $140
Perhaps one of the most famous Air Max 90s ever, the Dave Quality Meats x Nike Air Max 90 “Bacon” has become a household name for all Air Max fans. Having dropped over a decade and a half ago in 2004, fans have been awaiting for a retro. And finally, we have received one. The pair has been a given a historic return on Air Max Day, so be sure to have your calendars set for March 26 at 10 am on Nike SNKRS.
Tune in next week for another Nice Picks’ read, where the team will select our favorite releases occurring.
