Nike celebrates the Land of the Rising Sun with the new Nike Air Max 95 “Japan.” This was a big year for Japanese-themed sneakers as footwear brands created designs in honor of the postponed 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Although the Olympics have officially come to a close, it seems that festivities are still underway, with Japan taking home a total of 58 medals overall.
The Air Max 95 “Japan” celebrates Nippon with a colorway that honors the country’s national flag. The upper features a mix of materials including suede, mesh, patterned textiles, and stonewashed denim. Red accents appear on the eyestay and throughout the Air units on the midsole. Intricate Cherry Blossom detailing is embossed on the back of the heel and on the insole. This feature emerges again in bright red on the bottom of the sole, with one shoe marked with Kanji and the other with “AIR.”
The Nike Air Max 95 “Japan” is set to release September 22, 2021 via Nike.com and at select retailers for $170. Be sure to check back with our Sneaker Release Dates page for more info and updates on the drop.
