Teyana focuses before the show

There is not a single sound made as Teyana and crew ride the freight elevator up to the back entrance of the adidas Store in the Galleria Mall. Security is heavy due to the insanity of NBA All-Star Weekend, but you can feel the anticipation. The pulsating crowd grows louder as they near the venue. Teyana and Nikki walk arm in arm. Though she is a headlining performer, at this moment, she is nothing more or less than her mother’s baby. Friends, adidas representatives, and rapper, label mate, and “brother,” Pusha T are backstage awaiting her arrival. Like a queen, she immediately darts to the center of the room to dole out last minute instructions. Anxiety is gone. Nerves are steel. Anger has subsided. This was her moment…

SHOWTIME!

8:00 PM
After fulfilling every single autograph request, the night is over. She has done it. There is not a face that does not have a huge smile plastered on it. Boe stands away from everybody to take everything in. Prior to the ride over, he admitts, “I get goose bumps every time I think about it. The most exciting part for me is seeing her accomplish things that make her happy.” At this moment, pride exudes from his posture. Teyana hugs everyone. She embraces the security guards, the adidas representatives, and the driver. She hugs everybody. The excitement no longer has to be withheld. She can finally cut loose. As Eli expressed earlier, “She deserves this.”

Teyana stepped out of the Suburban a nervous, budding star, but returned to it a bonafide artist and designer. As the car drives off into the distance, one can only imagine just how far this female pioneer and her Harlem GLC sneaker, the fastest selling sneaker in adidas Originals history, will go. As she said, “It’s about time us females have something we can stand up for. We can definitely take over.” We will be watching.
